Young Voices 2025

On Monday 10th February, 80 children from Year 2 to Year 6 completed the final preparations and rehearsals for their performance with the Young Voices Choir, which took place in Wembley Arena…as the house lights went down and the stage lights went up, the atmosphere was electric and the evening was wonderful...80 of our Alpha children joining the choir of 4,609 voices. A big thank you goes to Mr Griffiths for organising the trip and to Miss Barbosa, Mrs Gilbert, Mr Gonsalves, Mrs Greenwood, Mr Holland, Mr Kanvar, Mrs Kilby, Mrs Lehane and Mrs McIntyre. A huge thank you also goes to the parents who cheered on the children with Miss Trott and I as part of the audience. Thanks to the purchase of 136 tickets from the Alpha Community, we have helped the Young Voices Foundation by raising £3,672 – and for my final note on Young Voices…THANK YOU and WELL DONE to the amazing 80 children who were in the Arena from 1.00pm to 9.00pm – they were all fantastic ambassadors for Alpha!

Superheroes Visit Alpha!

To introduce their topic of ‘People Who Help Us’, Reception have been exploring the book ‘Supertato’ and they have all recently become Superheroes! On their Superhero adventures, they have been trying to locate the evil, nasty Pea and save the school from becoming quite mushy! Our class of Reception Superheroes even went flying in to Mr Fahy's office to ask if he needed to be saved from anything…or anyone! The Superheroes spoke about what their helpful superpowers were and they told Mr Fahy all about how they made their superhero costumes.

Odd Socks Day

To raise awareness of Anti-Bullying Week (11th to 15th November) there were lots of pairs of odd socks worn around the school. Below you can see a selection of odd socks - I wonder whose feet are in the photographs?

Remember...it is always important to be yourself, it is always best to be unique and we should always celebrate diversity and being different! If anyone tells you otherwise, never be afraid of speaking up!

Happy Odd Socks Day!

Eco Warriors

Congratulations to our largest ever Eco Warrior Team of Representatives from Nursery to Year 6 who will be looking after us here at Alpha to ensure we are mindful of our world and they will be encouraging us to be more ‘green’.

Harvest Giving Event

In celebration of our Harvest Giving Event,  our Year 6 Charity Prefects were presented with the numerous donations our parents provided for Harrow Foodbank – we are absolutely overwhelmed with your kindness for people who are less fortunate than we are. The Manager of the Foodbank told us that donations were declining so any donations they receive is very much appreciated...our donations weighed a massive 220.5kg which is the largest donation they have received from a school in quite some time.

Thank you very much for your support and generosity for donating so many items which were taken to the Harrow Foodbank by our Charity Prefects.

More International Success for Alpha!

Recently, Ibraheem (Year 5) entered the 8th International Scratch Creative Programming Olympiad 2024. Candidates were asked to build a game where the avatar had to clean a range of litter and rubbish from the city and the oceans. Mr Fahy, Mr Gonsalves and Mr Kanvar tried out the game Ibraheem created, but they could not beat, or even come close to, Ibraheem’s score! When the results of the competition were announced, Ibraheem was the only participant from the UK who managed to reach a position in the Top 10! What a super achievement – well done!

Music Tour to Malta
18th to 22nd March

A huge thank you, congratulations and well done to the 37 children from Year 4 to Year 6 who attended our Music Tour in Malta before the Easter holidays. During the week, in addition to enjoying the Maltese weather, the children performed a concert in Popeye Village, San Lawrenz Primary School on the island of Gozo and they performed to over 300 secondary school children in Maria Regina College. The trip was an ambitious, enjoyable and successful adventure and the children were fantastic ambassadors for Alpha. A rather large thank you also goes to Mr Griffiths, our Head of Music, for arranging the trip.

Young Voices 2024

Congratulations and WELL DONE to Year 3 and Year 4 who performed in Wembley Arena on Thursday 1st February as part of the Young Voices choir. The children were incredibly proud of being part of 4932 voices performing for parents and guests...and their dance moves were pretty good too! Parents of Years 3 and 4 were also provided with the opportunity to sing and dance to a 90's medley of songs and those dance moves were also pretty good! What a wonderful night!

European Day of Languages

26th September marks the celebration of European Day of Languages - thank you to Ms Rasheed, our Catering Manager, for creating a wonderful European-inspired menu for the day!

Welcome Message

I am delighted to welcome you to Alpha Preparatory School’s website. Although the whole world has gone through some challenging and different times recently, it is a privilege to be leading the School at an exciting time in Alpha’s history: the 2024 - 2025 academic year marks Alpha's 129th anniversary.

As part of the ethos of the School, we aim to nurture, encourage and challenge each child to grow as a learner and a responsible citizen of today and of the future. Now in my seventh year at Alpha, our school community thrives with the children's many successes and achievements.

We are a small, friendly school with a long history of helping our children to develop the personal, social and academic skills that will underpin their future success in life.

Our belief at Alpha, is that the School and the parent body should work in partnership with each other. Parents and children will often see me around the School, including at the start and end of the School day as I greet or say farewell to the children.

If you do have any queries or would like to arrange a tour of the School to see us in action, please contact our school office on 020 8427 1471 or email us on sec@alpha.harrow.sch.uk.

I look forward to meeting you and welcoming you to Alpha, a place where your child will be immersed in a stimulating, inspiring and supporting environment, a place where we help the young women and men of the coming generation to find their own unique place in the world.

Mr Pádraic Fahy
Headmaster of Alpha Preparatory School
